Craft Brewing and Distilling News for April 22, 2019

April 22, 2019

•Fort Collins, Colorado-based Funkwerks has expanded into New York City. On the heels of the brewery’s recent expansion into Ohio, Kentucky, and the Chicago area, Funkwerks has entered its 12th state, bringing a selection of its beers—including Saison, Tropic King, Raspberry Provincial, and White—to select locations throughout the city in partnership with distributor Manhattan Beer. The move brings Funkwerks’ distribution footprint in closer alignment with Brooklyn Brewery and 21st Amendment, the Colorado brewer’s partner companies.

•Pelican Brewing Company of Pacific City, Oregon, will release Pink Boots India Pale Lager in support of the Pink Boots Society, which works to advance women in the beer industry. Pelican brewer and Society member Cat Wiest created the 6.5% abv beer in collaboration with female colleagues. Pink Boots IPL contains a propriety hop blend that was created by hop grower Yakima Chief and provided to all brewers that participated in Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day on March 8. It will be available on tap at Pelican’s brewpubs and other on-premise venues. Brewers and the Society will split the sales proceeds, which Pink Boots will direct toward educational scholarships and programming for members.
