Craft Brewing and Distilling News for May 24, 2019

May 24, 2019

•The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States has created a Craft Advisory Council to give a voice to craft distilleries within the trade organization. Ted Huber of Indiana’s Starlight Distillery will chair the council. The 22-member council draws members from distilleries across the U.S. and will offer policy recommendations that benefit craft distillers at the federal, state, and local levels, and work to organize the council’s craft-focused programs.

•San Diego-based Coronado Brewing is introducing two new IPAs, which will be sold together in mixed 4-packs of 16-ounce cans. Rise East Hazy IPA, made in a New England style, is dry-hopped with Simcoe, El Dorado, and Vic Secret, and also includes London III yeast and oats. Set West, a classic West Coast IPA, features the same hops but is fermented with California Ale yeast. Both new brews are at 7% abv and will roll out across Coronado’s distribution network this month.
