Scotch Whisky Tourism Hits Record High

June 24, 2019

Last year, over 2 million tourists visited whisky distilleries across Scotland, setting a new record, according to the Scotch Whisky Association. The group reports that visits were up 6.1% year over year and that distilleries brought in 56% more visitors than they did at the beginning of this decade. Spending at Scotch tourism facilities is also growing, up 12.2% to £68.3 million ($87m), £7.4 million ($9.4m) more than in 2017. While Scotch whisky tourism is a global draw, Germany and the U.S. sent the most visitors to Scotland among all countries.
