•Pernod Ricard has launched a new expression in its Glenlivet portfolio, a 14-year-old single malt Scotch whisky finished in Cognac casks. The whisky is initially matured in American oak and first-fill Sherry casks before finishing, blending, and bottling at 40% abv. This release, dubbed Cognac Cask Selection, is exclusively available in the U.S., and $1 from each bottle sold (in participating retailers) will be donated to the Purple Heart Foundation (up to $100,000). The Glenlivet 14-Year-Old is now available nationwide for a suggested price of $55 a 750-ml. Last year, the Glenlivet was up 2.3% to 429,000 cases in the U.S., according to Impact Databank.

•Massachusetts retailer Liquor ‘N More opened a sixth location in the town of Wareham earlier this year, with a soft opening in February followed by a grand opening in April. Owners Michael and Liz Patterson launched the chain in 2010, with the first location in Wellfleet. The new 7,000-square-foot Wareham location carries around 1,200 wine SKUs, 700 spirits SKUs, and 500 beer SKUs. Customer traffic at the Wareham location has been steady, as it’s located in a busy area near a Walmart, Target, and other shopping destinations. Massachusetts liquor laws currently set the maximum number of licenses per owner at seven, and next year that limit will rise to nine. Market Watch has the full story.

•Moët Hennessy veteran Donae Burston has launched La Fête du Rosé, a new wine brand made in conjunction with Domaine Bertaud Belieu Winery in St. Tropez. Retailing at $24 a 750-ml., La Fête du Rosé is a blend of 80% Grenache, 14% Mourvèdre, and 6% Syrah. It’s currently distributed to Florida, Georgia, Washington D.C., California and New York with additional markets to follow.

•Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits has promoted Rahul Sathe to the role of senior vice president, commercial effectiveness. The new position will report to Brad Vassar, the company’s executive vice president and COO, and will be in charge of managing commercial support functions and personnel. Sathe will work with company’s Regional, Dedicated Divisions, and States teams to ensure that Southern Glazer’s is operating at peak efficiency. Sathe has been with the company since 2008 and has worked in Southern Glazer’s corporate strategy group, most recently as vice president for the East region.
