•Jameson Irish Whiskey has announced two new, limited edition releases in its Caskmates line of beer barrel-finished whiskies. The first, Jameson Caskmates Bale Breaker, is finished in barrels seasoned with Bale Breaker’s Topcutter IPA, which adds citrus and hoppy notes to the whiskey. The second, Caskmates Revolution Brewing, is finished in barrels seasoned with First City Chicago Pale Ale and has fruit and vanilla notes. Both are now available for around $30 in select locations across the U.S. Jameson Caskmates was up 60% to nearly 200,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
•King Estate is introducing a new Willamette Valley Pinot Noir called Inscription. About half the fruit in the wine comes from King Estate’s own vineyards, with the balance from vineyards throughout the Willamette Valley. Inscription is aged for eight to 10 months in French oak, about 30% in new barrels. Initial production is 10,000 cases. King Estate CEO Ed King said the new entry is intended as a marker to “uphold the authentic nature of well-made Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.”
•The Pure Azul Beverage Company is launching its first product, Azulana, a sparkling canned cocktail made with 100% blue agave Tequila. Launching initially in Southern California, Azulana comes in Lime, Pineapple Rosemary, and Original flavors, made with natural ingredients and sweetened with agave nectar. Produced in Guadalajara, Mexico, each 12-ounce can is at 4.3% abv and a 4-pack retails for $14. Launches in additional markets are planned for the rest of the year and throughout 2020.
•Stuart McGuire has joined Wolf Spirit as a partner and vice president. At Wolf Spirit, McGuire joins fellow Beso del Sol Sangria veterans Larry Margolis and Bradd Levitan, who are also partners in the business. The Wine Group acquired Beso del Sol last year. Founded by former Campari America CMO Umberto Luchini, Wolf Spirit’s portfolio includes Blood x Sweat x Tears Vodka and Tom of Finland Organic Vodka, and is projected to be in 40 states by year-end.
•Southern Glazer’s has added Rock N Roll Tequila to its portfolio in Florida. The ultra-premium priced Rock N Roll includes Platinum, Cristalino, and Mango expressions and is packaged in guitar-shaped bottles.
