Canopy Ex-CEO Signs On With Four Cannabis Companies In Advisory Role

September 24, 2019

Former Canopy Growth CEO Bruce Linton has joined several cannabis companies in advisory capacities. Linton will become the executive chairman of Gage Cannabis, a Detroit, Michigan-based cultivator, processor, and retailer that plans to have 13 medical dispensaries open by early next year. Michigan will begin awarding licenses for recreational shops before the end of the year. Linton is also joining Better Choice Company, which focuses on CBD for pets, in a special advisor role.

Additionally, he plans to become an activist investor in Slang Worldwide—a cannabis CPG company—and DNA Genetics, which specializes in cannabis breeding. He also joined Mind Medicine, a Toronto-based company planning psychedelic-based medical treatments. Linton is prohibited by a non-compete agreement from joining Canadian cannabis companies, but said that he will announce a role similar to his Gage position with an American multi-state operator soon.—Danny Sullivan
