•Founders Brewing has announced Civilized Brut as its next seasonal release. Civilized Brut (6% abv) is an extra dry IPA, billed as bubbly and crisp in imitation of brut Champagne. Designed for “a more sophisticated IPA drinker,” Civilized Brut will begin shipping in November after debuting at Founders’ two taprooms in Grand Rapids and Detroit on October 30. It will be available in 6- and 15-packs of 12-ounce cans and on draft across the brewery’s national distribution area. Founders All Day IPA recently earned Impact “Hot Brand” honors.

•Michigan’s Traverse City Whiskey Co. has acquired New York-based Cocktail Crate LLC. The purchase will add craft mixers to the whiskey company’s growing stable of spirits and non-alcoholic brands. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Cocktail Crate founder Alex Abbott Boyd will join the Traverse City Whiskey Co. and look to drive growth for the company’s non-alcoholic brands.
