•Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) has released its first wine grown in China. The project, long in the works, has resulted in 25 hectares of vines in full production in China’s northeastern Shandong province. The estate is called Domaine de Long Dai and has now produced its first vintage, a 2017 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Marselan, and Cabernet Franc from vines planted in 2011. The wine is now available in China for approximately $335 a 750-ml., distributed exclusively by Pernod Ricard China, with export markets slated to follow next year.

•New England wholesaler Martignetti Cos. has launched a new digital marketing service for its supplier and retailer partners. According to Martignetti, the Profitable Brand Discovery Solutions (PBD) platform “enables retailers who join the network to participate in supplier-sponsored omni-channel digital marketing campaigns” aimed at drawing consumers to new brands in their stores. “Today’s e-commerce marketplace can often reduce the consumer interaction with a brand to a transaction based just on price,” said Neil Fisher, senior vice president of sales operations and marketing at Martignetti. “We hope to expand the consideration to include product attributes and brand heritage, while strengthening the relationship between the user and their store.”

•Santo Tequila, the brand from former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar and celebrity chef Guy Fieri, has expanded into California. The brand’s Blanco Tequila is sourced from El Viejito Distillery from agave grown in Jalisco’s highlands region. Santo is currently rolling out to over 200 locations across California through Southern Glazer’s. Following the California launch, Santo will launch in New York (SGWS), Georgia (Savannah Distributing), South Carolina (RNDC), and Massachusetts (Horizon Beverage). The Blanco Tequila retails for a suggested price of $40 a 750-ml.

•Winebow has promoted Chuck Jones to vice president-general manager of its Mid-Atlantic region, overseeing Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C. Jones was previously sales director for North Florida. Also, Matt Maksimowitz has been named vice president and general manager of The Carolinas at Winebow, adding North Carolina to his purview. Finally, Jorge Morgado has been promoted to vice president and general manager of Florida, after serving as sales director for South Florida since 2014.

•Correction: Tanteo Blanco Tequila is at 42.5% abv, not 40% as reported in yesterday’s issue.
