News Alert: Paul Duffy To Step Down As Pernod Ricard North America Head; Ann Mukherjee Named To Replace HimNovember 7, 2019
Pernod Ricard North America chairman and CEO Paul Duffy will step down effective December 2, 2019, the company has announced. Duffy, who led Pernod’s U.S. business from 2008-2012 and again from 2016 to the present, will be leaving the group to return to his native Ireland.
Duffy will be replaced by Ann Mukherjee, currently Chief Commercial Officer of S. C. Johnson & Son, a global family manufacturer of household and professional products.
“Paul will be remembered as one of our management team members who accompanied the growth of our group over the last 25 years,” said Pernod chairman and CEO Alex Ricard. “We wish him the best for his return to Ireland.”
Turning to Mukherjee’s appointment, Ricard added, “I am very pleased to welcome Ann to our executive committee. Her comprehensive marketing and commercial expertise will not only undoubtedly contribute to furthering the transformation of our ever-more consumer-oriented company, but to achieving our first and foremost objective: to accelerate our growth in our number one market, the United States.”
In the U.S., Pernod’s sales climbed 6% in the three months through September, boosted by advance shipments as distributors stocked up ahead of the holiday season. The company said that its underlying sales trend is closer to 4%, with growth continuing to be driven by Jameson Irish whiskey.
Meanwhile, Pernod announced that Bruno Rain will be retiring as chairman and CEO of Pernod Ricard Winemakers, to be replaced by Bryan Fry, currently Managing Director of Pernod Ricard Pacific, also on December 2.—Daniel MarstellerSubscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
