•Founders Brewing Co. released KBS Espresso, a twist on its Bourbon barrel-aged chocolate and coffee Kentucky Breakfast Stout. The original version of KBS already was brewed with coffee, but KBS Espresso is aged on espresso beans from nearby Ferris Coffee & Nut for a more robust coffee flavor. The 12% abv beer kicked off Founders’ 2020 Barrel-Aged Series, priced at $24 a 4-pack and $20 a 750-ml. bottle. Later this month it will roll out throughout the brewery’s distribution network, available through February of next year.
•Chicago-based Rhine Hall Distillery, known for its brandies, is introducing its first coffee liqueur. The new release is made from a base of pineapple brandy, vanilla beans and raw cane sugar married with Metric Coffee’s Fulton Street blend. The 32.5% abv liqueur retails at $25 a 375-ml. and $45 a 750-ml. The company is also set to release Pear Brandy Reserve, a 40% abv brandy priced at $34 a 375-ml and $58 a 750-ml. A banana brandy is expected for next year, which will bring the portfolio to nearly 20 labels in all.
