Craft Brewing and Distilling News for December 16, 2019
December 16, 2019•Dallas, Texas-based Oak & Eden Whiskey has announced the third spirit in their core lineup: Wheat & Spire. The 45% abv whiskey is made from a mash of 51% corn, 45% wheat, and 4% malted barley, and aged for two years before bottling. Like Oak & Eden’s previous release, Wheat & Spire is ‘bottle finished’ by adding a barrel stave—in this case a French oak stave—to alter the whiskey’s profile. Oak & Eden’s whiskies, including Wheat & Spire, Bourbon & Vine, and Rye & Rumba, are now available in Texas, Colorado, Kentucky, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Michigan, and Louisiana.
•Denver, Colorado’s Next Stop Brew Co. has launched four of its brews in cans for the first time. The company has released 6-packs of 12-ounce cans for its Bangkok Kölsch, a 4.5% abv lager brewed with lemongrass and ginger; Amsterdam Hefeweizen, a 5.3% abv wheat ale brewed with chamomile, orange peel, and coriander; Rome IPA, a 6.5% abv brew made with Italian basil; and Istanbul Coffee Stout, a 7% stout made with Turkish coffee. Next Stop Brew has partnered with Colorado Craft Distributors to bring these newly canned beers to locations across the state.
