•Puerto Rico rum maker Destilería Serrallés has launched Don Q Single Barrel 2009, the latest label in the brand’s Signature Release series. The rum was aged for nine years in American oak before being bottled at 40% abv. This is the third release in the Don Q’s Signature series, with 6,000 cases available at select retailers across the U.S. market at a suggested price of $40 a 750-ml. Don Q sells approximately 250,000 cases in the U.S. annually, according to Impact Databank.
•Southern Glazer’s has named Patrick Pokorny as executive vice president, general manager, control states. Pokorny is currently executive vice president, general manager of SGWS-Pennsylvania. Also promoted is Doug Wieland, currently senior vice president, general manager at SGWS Canada. Wieland will now become president, Canada. Meanwhile, Nicole Bierig Jordan has been appointed senior vice president, commercial transformation and digital strategy. She’s currently senior vice president, growth and strategy, on the company’s transformation team. And Jennifer Chaplin Tolkin is being promoted to vice president, family-owned brands, from her current position of director, supplier management and business development. All the new Southern Glazer’s appointments are effective January 1.
•Gundlach Bundschu has named Towle Merritt as vice president of operations, general manager. Merritt was previously general manager at Walsh Vineyard Management, which provides vineyard services for over 5,000 acres of vineyards on 170 properties in the Napa-Sonoma area.
