WSWA Cancels 77th Annual Convention And Exposition

March 13, 2020

The Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) has canceled its upcoming 77th Annual Convention and Exposition due to the spread of the coronavirus. The event was to be held April 20-23 in Las Vegas.

In a statement yesterday, WSWA president and CEO Michelle Korsmo said, “Over the past 24 hours, it became clear that keeping our community safe and healthy went beyond what additional hygiene measures we could put in place. We are therefore following the rapidly developing consensus among public health officials to limit social interactions and cancel events of over 1,000 attendees.”

Korsmo added that WSWA is exploring alternatives to the business opportunities provided by the convention, to be pursued throughout the year. Those could include educational webinars, showcases, brand features, and other initiatives.—Daniel Marsteller
