Constellation Scales Back Mexican Beer Production Under Government Order

April 8, 2020

Constellation Brands has announced that it is paring back brewery operations in Mexico in response to the Mexican government’s coronavirus-related restrictions on non-essential businesses. On Friday, the company had assured investors that its Mexican breweries were continuing to operate despite the government enforced shutdown.

“We are taking these additional steps after gaining more clarity related to the Mexican government’s response to this health and economic crisis,” said Constellation president and CEO Bill Newlands. “These most recent actions are in addition to aggressive steps the company had already implemented to keep our team members and visitors to our facilities safe.” Newlands added that the breweries had recently ramped up production for high volume products and are well positioned to maintain supply, despite the reduction.—Shane English
