•Moët Hennessy-owned California sparkling label Chandon has introduced By The Bay, a new blanc de blancs bubbly. Made with grapes sourced from the Carneros AVAs, By The Bay is partially aged in French oak barrels and spends 42 months on the lees. The new cuvée is available nationwide, retail priced at $29.50 a 750-ml. The Chandon portfolio also includes Brut, Rosé, Blanc de Noirs, and Sweet Star sparklers. The brand was up 6.5% to 486,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
•Miami, Florida-based Samson & Surrey has named John Roa as senior vice president of sales. An industry veteran, Roa has decades of experience, most recently at Bacardi, where he served as managing director of Bacardi USA’s Eastern sales division. Roa joins Samson & Surrey following Lee Strader’s retirement.
