Craft Brewing and Distilling News for May 8, 2020
May 8, 2020•Portland, Oregon-based Craft Brew Alliance has reported shipments down 6% for its fiscal first quarter, ended March 31. The company attributes the decline to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the sharp drop-off in on-premise business, both in distribution and its own brewpubs. Shipments for Kona were down 2% for the quarter, though the company noted that the brand is up 9% year-to-date in Nielsen channels, with Big Wave Ale leading the way at a growth rate of 20%. Craft Brew Alliance continues to work with regulators on its pending acquisition by Anheuser-Busch InBev, which is expected to close this year.
