•As the on-premise slowly reopens across the country, many consumers remain wary about returning to dining out, according a Nielsen CGA survey of 1,600 consumers across California, Texas, New York, and Florida conducted June 5-7. Among those surveyed, 30% reported eating out in bars or restaurants in the previous two weeks, while 12% reported that they had ventured out for drinks on-premise. Prior to Covid-19, about 82% of Americans visited bars and restaurants for a meal at least every two weeks. Those comfortable going out have been apt to return more than once, with 80% of those dining on-premise having done so at least twice in the past two weeks, and 42% dining out three times or more. Of those choosing not to return to the on-premise yet, 45% say it’s because they don’t feel safe in close proximity to strangers amid the pandemic.
