Diageo has announced a new $20 million effort aimed at supporting Black communities disproportionately affected by Covid-19. The Diageo Community Fund will support businesses, consumers, and partners integral to the hospitality industry in Black communities across the U.S. It will include targeted donations supporting economic recovery efforts, training for business owners and employees, and relief aid. Specific investments from the fund will be announced in the coming weeks.
“Diageo has no tolerance for racism, injustice, and unequal treatment,” said Diageo CEO Ivan Menezes. “We stand together with the Black community in this defining moment.” The company has already pledged over $1 million to the National Urban League, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and 100 Black Men of America, Inc., to support their work for racial equality and social justice.—Daniel MarstellerSubscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
