Craft Brewing and Distilling News for July 1, 2020
July 1, 2020•Rhode Island-based Newport Craft Brewing has acquired New York City’s Radiant Pig. The deal closed on June 16 and terms were not disclosed. Rob Pihl, founder of Radiant Pig, will stay on as the brand’s brewmaster and ambassador, taking an equity stake in Newport. Radiant Pig’s beers, which were up 25% to 1,250 barrels last year, will begin production at Newport on July 6. The acquisition lines up with an expansion at Newport’s brewery that will bring production capacity to 25,000 to 50,000 barrels. This year, Newport expects to produce between 7,500 and 10,000 barrels, up from 4,500 in 2019.
