•Patrón has appointed David Rodriguez as its new master distiller, effective immediately. Rodriguez has worked for the Tequila brand for almost two decades and most recently served as the company’s director general of manufacturing operations. He succeeds Francisco Alcaraz, who has been with the company for over 30 years. Patrón, part of the Bacardi portfolio, is the largest super-premium Tequila in the U.S., depleting 2.8 million cases last year, according to Impact Databank.
•Tennessee’s Ole Smoky Distillery has launched a new line of canned cocktails, entering the market with four flavors. The 9% abv cocktails are available in Apple Pie Ginger, Blackberry Lemonade, Mountain ‘Rita, and Mountain Mule, and all are based on cocktails served at the distillery’s tasting room. Ole Smoky’s canned cocktails are now available throughout Tennessee in 4-packs of 12-ounce cans. Last year, Ole Smoky was up 24% to 414,000 cases, according to Impact Databank, earning “Hot Brand” honors.
•French wine Maison Marcel is introducing a new Sauvignon Blanc called Ocean Bound. Sourced from the Gascony region in Southwest France, Ocean Bound retails at $19 a 750-ml. It joins French Velvet red, sparkling rosé, and still rosé offerings in the Maison Marcel portfolio. Imported by Park Street, Maison Marcel’s U.S. footprint covers New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
•Taffer’s Mixologist has launched a new Spicy Bloody Mary offering. Debuting nationally at Walmart stores, the new mixer has 30 calories a serving and no preservatives. It retails at $5.48 a 32-ounce bottle.
