•Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel, Johnnie Walker Anniversary Blends, and newcomers from Angel’s Envy and Jack Daniel’s are among the offerings featured in Whisky Advocate’s latest whiskey roundup. The magazine’s website has all the details.

•Sazerac has completed its acquisition of the Early Times, Canadian Mist, and Collingwood brands from Brown-Forman for an undisclosed sum. The deal was originally announced in mid-June. According to Impact Databank, Canadian Mist was down 3.7% to 1.1 million cases last year, while Early Times fell 6.8% to 426,000 cases. Brown-Forman said the deal “reflects the continued evolution of the company’s portfolio strategy to focus on premium brands.”

•Abelha Organic Cachaça has launched in the U.S. Imported and distributed by MHW in New York and New Jersey, and Murphy in Connecticut, the brand is making its debut with two expressions, Prata and Ouro. Prata is a 40% abv offering rested for six months in open steel tanks after distillation. Ouro is the brand’s aged expression, bottled at 40% abv after maturing for three years in 65-gallon Garapeira (a variety of Brazilian ash) casks. Both releases are made without added sugar and are certified organic. The brand is a collaboration between the Responsible Trading Company and Fazenda Vaccaro Farm.

•Breakthru Beverage Group has appointed Cristina Desmond executive vice president, Pennsylvania. The role is responsible for leading all aspects of Breakthru’s business in the state, including growth strategies for its suppliers and retail partners. Desmond has been with the company since 2002 and was most recently vice president, national retail accounts. She brings familiarity with the Pennsylvania market, having also previously served as vice president of marketing, retail sales & promotions for Breakthru’s Pennsylvania division.
