Cannabis Briefs for August 11, 2020

August 11, 2020

•Vermont may legalize cannabis sales during a special legislative session following a months-long delay. The state legalized possession in 2018 but failed to enact sales at that time. Bills establishing a sales regime have since passed both chambers of the state legislature and have been waiting since March to be reconciled and sent to the governor. The reconciliation committee is slated to meet during the upcoming August/September session according to the chief of staff to House Speaker Mitzi Johnson.

•Health Canada has reinstated all of Canadian producer CannTrust’s licenses following a year-long investigation into various infractions and unlicensed cultivation. Following a first reinstatement in June, the company’s flagship Vaughan, Ontario facility is now back online and will restart operations as well, aiming to relaunch its portfolio in the final quarter of the year.
