Trinchero Acquires Long-Time Partner Brand Tres Agaves Tequila

August 19, 2020

Trinchero Family Estates has made it official with Tres Agaves Tequila, agreeing to acquire the super-premium brand for an undisclosed sum. Trinchero has handled Tres Agaves, founded by Barry Augus in 2008, as part of its spirits portfolio since 2012. “Tres Agaves has grown 10 times since we first started selling the brand eight years ago, and we know with the reputation and quality of this brand we can expect more success,” said Trinchero president and CEO Bob Torkelson.

The deal includes Tres Agaves’ full portfolio of organic 100%-agave Tequilas, RTD cocktails, and mixers. The brand’s blanco, reposado, and anejo Tequilas retail between $30-$35, while its premixed Margarita is at $30 a 1.75-liter. Last year, Tres Agaves opened a new distillery in Amatitán, Jalisco, with an initial capacity of 67,000 cases. Trinchero’s spirits portfolio also includes Hanson of Sonoma Organic Vodka, Amador Whiskey Co. and Trincheri Vermouth.—Daniel Marsteller
