Exclusive: Taub Family Selections Joins Independence Wine & Spirits Portfolio In New York MarketAugust 20, 2020
The Taub family is bringing distribution of its fine wine portfolio in-house in the New York market. Independence Wine & Spirits, the Taub-owned distributor operating in New York and New Jersey, will be the exclusive wholesaler for the Taub Family Selections range in the Empire State, effective September 1. The portfolio is transitioning from Southern Glazer’s Lauber Fine Wine division.
Marc Taub, who serves as president and CEO of both Taub Family Selections and Independence, says the move will bring Taub Family Selections closer to its customers, noting that the better part of his early career was spent at his family’s former Premier Wine & Spirits distribution house. “This puts us in a position to be able to talk about our brands with the retail and on-premise communities first-hand every day,” he told SND. “The market is changing, with a major shift toward the retail environment, and bringing distribution back into our own hands is the right move at just the right time. New York retailers are familiar with my family and our history and I think will very much embrace our expanded role in the New York market.”
The Taub Family Selections portfolio includes such brands as Bertani, Fontanafredda, Planeta, Ferrari, Mastroberardino, Sella & Mosca, Trimbach, Jean-Luc Colombo, Champagne Boizel, Lafite Rothschild, Saget La Perriere, Greysac, Invivo, and Taub Family Vineyards, among many others. While those wines are now moving to Independence in New York, Southern Glazer’s will continue to handle Taub’s Palm Bay International portfolio in the state, including key brands like Cavit and Roscato.—Daniel MarstellerSubscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
