Cannabis Briefs for October 6, 2020

October 6, 2020

•Los Angeles-based Wyllow, a new cannabis brand, has launched at Stiiizy retail locations in San Francisco and Los Angeles. The brand launched in August in Los Angeles with several flower strains including a popular sativa called Mimosa and another called Afghan White. The expansion to San Francisco is marked by the introduction of new flower variety Gelato, which will be accompanied by a custom virtual reality Instagram filter. Gelato will be available exclusively at the Stiiizy flagship stores in both cities, retailing for around $28 per eighth of an ounce.

•Vermont governor Phil Scott has until tomorrow to sign or veto a bill enacting cannabis sales in the state. Vermont legalized recreational cannabis use, possession, and cultivation in 2017 but did not establish a legal sales framework. In recent comments, Scott expressed concern over whether the bill goes far enough in its social equity provisions; meanwhile, a coalition of civil rights groups are urging him to sign it. If Scott doesn’t take action by Wednesday, the bill will automatically become law.
