Exclusive: Constellation Adds Napa Valley Cabernet And Carneros Chardonnay To The Prisoner Range
October 26, 2020Upscale California wine brand The Prisoner is launching two new wines, a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Carneros Chardonnay. The Cabernet includes small amounts of Merlot, Syrah, Malbec, Petite Sirah, and Charbono and retails at $55 a 750-ml. The Chardonnay is positioned at $40, and includes some Roussanne and Gewürztraminer in its blend.
In addition to the 750-ml. format, the new entries will join the flagship Prisoner red blend in a three-bottle gift pack of 375-mls., which will hit the market in time for the holidays. Constellation acquired The Prisoner from Huneeus Vintners in 2016 for $285 million. The brand sells approximately 200,000 cases in the U.S. annually, according to Impact Databank.—Daniel Marsteller
