Cannabis Briefs for November 3, 2020November 3, 2020
•Chicago, Illinois-based Cresco Labs is launching a live resin vape cartridge as part of its eponymous brand portfolio. The release is set apart by its fidelity to its plant source—the resin is extracted from a single cannabis strain and the oil is never separated or reconstituted throughout the process, meaning the liquid resin is free from fillers or additives of any kind and retains the full spectrum of naturally occurring minor cannabinoids that are thought to harmonize with THC. Cresco will first launch the cartridges in California and Illinois in half gram and 1 gram options.
•Boulder, Colorado-based edibles producer Wana Brands announced two executive promotions. Stephanie Daley has been named vice president of market expansion, overseeing growth efforts in the U.S. and Canada. Daley has previously spearheaded Wana’s forays into eight states including California, Illinois, and Arizona and is currently focusing on entering Massachusetts, Missouri, and Florida. Mike Hennesy has also assumed an executive role as vice president of innovation; he was previously director of innovation, leading research and development efforts and overseeing partnerships involving new cannabis technologies.
•Pro athletes Alex Morgan, Klay Thompson, Travis Pastrana, and Paul Rodriguez are launching a CBD brand called Just Live. Pitched as a natural aid for pain, recovery, and overall wellness, Just Live’s initial product line includes Just Live roll-on freeze ($30 for 300 mg of CBD), broad spectrum drops ($30 for 300 mg), massage oil ($65 for 1,000 mg), and vitamin C gummies ($40 for 300 mg). The line is available now from Just Live’s website.
•Wakefield, Massachusetts-based Curaleaf has expanded into Illinois. The company announced that it has launched its Select Oil brand in the land of Lincoln, its fifteenth market. The rollout into the state, where sales have skyrocketed this year to become second only to California in value, begins with Select Elite live cannabis oil vape cartridges. The production process combines THC oil with live resin extract and uses a proprietary formula designed to capture more terpene content than other vape products. Select is slated to add Pennsylvania to its footprint early next month.Subscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
