•Italy’s Zonin family has debuted 100 Nails Ranch, a new range of California wines.
The new label consists of three varietals sourced from three distinct areas: Sonoma County Chardonnay, Central Coast Pinot Noir, and Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon. Each wine is retail priced at $19 a 750-ml., and all will begin rolling out in January. This marks Zonin’s entry into California winemaking; the company is known for its broad portfolio of Italian wines, including Impact “Hot Brands” Zonin Prosecco and Castello del Poggio.
•E-commerce heavyweight Drizly and Texas retailer Spec’s have expanded their partnership, adding online ordering and delivery at 34 more Spec’s locations in the Lone Star State. This expansion adds 25 stores in Houston and nine in Austin, and brings the Drizly/Spec’s partnership to 161 stores statewide. According to Drizly, online sales in Houston and Austin have spiked during the pandemic, up 620% and 350%, respectively, since March. This new expansion will bring roughly 570,000 new potential consumers into Drizly’s reach.
•San Francisco-based Hotaling & Co. has appointed Eric Gilliland as vice president of operations, reporting to president and CEO Dan Leese. Gilliland was most recently vice president of operations at Purple Brands, and before that spent time with Chateau St. Jean and Beringer. In his new role he’ll oversee Hotaling’s supply chain and work to improve processes, workflow, and strategic planning, according to the company.
•Diageo veteran James Thompson has been named chief commercial officer at Heineken, replacing Jan Derck van Karnebeek. Thompson’s 24 years at Diageo spanned three continents, including in North America as chief marketing and innovation officer, in Asia Pacific as chief marketing and innovation officer, and as managing director, Global Reserve. Most recently Thompson was head of categories, brand, innovation and stores at Avon.
