•Rum Co. of Fiji has entered a partnership with New Zealand’s Broken Shed Vodka, effective December 1, allowing the rum producer to enter the California market. Under the agreement, the two companies will remain independent entities but Rum Co. of Fiji will work with Broken Shed’s team to promote the brand in the Golden State. Distribution will be handled by Young’s Market Co. Rum Co. of Fiji produces the Bati and Ratu lines of rum, and Broken Shed produces an eponymous vodka.

•Florida International University has named Brian Connors as the director of its Bacardi Center of Excellence, billed as the only spirits management curriculum of its kind in the country for students interested in a career in the spirits industry. Connors has served as interim director since the center’s founding earlier this year, when Bacardi made a $5 million donation to the Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Before joining the Bacardi Center, Connors served as a wine and beverage consultant across the industry as well as an educator at Johnson & Wales University.
