•Rania Zayyat has followed a similar career path as many other top wine-service professionals, earning accreditation from the Court of Master Sommeliers and serving at esteemed restaurants. Stints at Wine Spectator Grand Award winner Pappas Bros. Steakhouse and Award of Excellence winner June’s All Day in Texas are just two of the feathers in her cap. But along the way, she’s had a drastically different experience than her male counterparts. Confronted by gender discrimination in her career, Zayyat founded Lift Collective to make the industry a safer, more welcoming place for all. Wine Spectator caught up with Zayyat to discuss those efforts.

•Breakthru Beverage has launched Aspect, a new fine wine-focused strategy that the company will employ across the U.S. The move aims to emulate the focus and in-depth knowledge offered by a specialty fine wine distributor while taking advantage of Breakthru’s scale and technological insights. Aspect is led by Darren Cliff, a 20-year industry veteran who previously served as vice president, portfolio management at Young’s Market Company’s Estate Group.

•Diageo has launched a line of canned cocktails under the Crown Royal brand. The 7% abv RTDs come in three flavors—Whisky & Cola, Washington Apple, and Peach Tea—all made using either Crown Royal’s original whisky or one of the brand’s flavored variants. Crown Royal’s new RTDs are available nationwide in 4-packs of 12-ounce cans and as individual cans, priced at around $15 and $4, respectively.
