Fishers Island Canned Cocktails In Expansion Mode

April 12, 2021

Fast-growing canned cocktail brand Fishers Island Lemonade is expanding its portfolio, jumping from a single SKU to five total. The Impact “Hot Prospect” brand, retailing in the range of $16-$20 a four-pack of 12-ounce cans, was an early entrant in the premium spirit-based RTD category, launching in 2013 and growing to over 100,000 9-liter case equivalents last year in its 10-state distribution footprint.

The original lemonade is a canned version of a popular cocktail made with Bourbon, Vodka, honey, and lemon, originally served at founder and CEO Bronya Shillo’s family bar, the Pequot Inn, on Fishers Island, New York. The brand’s new products, launching now, were born from on- and off-premise experimentation by bartenders and the lemonade’s original fans. Fishers Island’s Pink Flamingo (7% abv) adds cranberry to the original lemonade cocktail, Spiked Tea (7% abv) adds black tea, Fishers Fizz brings the abv down from 9% to 5% and offers a carbonated take on the original, and the Fishers Spirit Pop is a frozen spin on the original cocktail.

Coinciding with the new products is a “Find Your Island” marketing campaign aimed at building on the brand’s dedicated Instagram following with out-of-home and digital activations. According to Impact Databank, Fishers Island jumped 84% in 2020 to 109,000 cases, and Shillo tells SND that progress has been ongoing so far this year, with expansion into the Maryland and Delaware markets on the docket.—Shane English
