Carlton McCoy Jr. And The Lawrence Family Unveil New Napa Valley Brand, Brendel

April 20, 2021

Carlton McCoy Jr. and the Lawrence family are launching Brendel, a new organically farmed label from the Napa Valley. Named for Napa pioneer Leon Brendel, the brand is intended to explore historical winemaking styles and rare grape varieties.

Brendel’s initial offering will include Young Leon Frizzante Rosé ($30), Everbloom Sauvignon Blanc ($28), Noble One Chardonnay ($30), Chorus Cuvée Blanc ($28), Chorus Cuvée Rouge ($30), and Cooper’s Reed Cabernet Sauvignon ($40). The wines will roll out via McCoy and the Lawrence family’s negociant business, Demeine Estates.

Demeine is anchored by the 40,000-case Heitz brand, which agriculture magnate Gaylon Lawrence, Jr. acquired in 2018. “Our aim is to create a diverse portfolio of wine brands and support them in the pursuit of creating the highest quality, most expressive wines possible, encouraging innovation and sustainable practices,” said McCoy, who is managing partner of Demeine.—Daniel Marsteller
