•Diageo has announced George Dickel Bottled in Bond Spring 2007 Vintage, the latest annual release in the brand’s series of limited edition bonded whiskies. This third whiskey in the series is a 13-year-old Bourbon and is now rolling out in select markets across the U.S., retailing at $45 a 750-ml. The Fall 2005 vintage release was named Whisky Advocate’s Whisky of the Year in 2019. Whisky Advocate spoke with head distiller Nicole Austin about the new release.
•Taylor Fladgate has entered the RTD market with Chip Dry & Tonic, a white Port-based drink packaged in 250-ml. cans. The 5.5% abv cocktail will launch this summer in the U.S., the U.K., and Portugal in 4-packs that will retail for around $18. The cocktail, according to the company, features not only Fladgate’s white Port, but tonic water that’s specifically made for the Port house. In the U.S., the Taylor Fladgate portfolio is handled by Kobrand.
•Brown-Forman-owned Sonoma-Cutrer has launched 40th Anniversary Chardonnay, the newest wine bottled as part of the winery’s yearly Winemaker’s Release. In addition to celebrating the brand’s 40th anniversary, the release also marks a final collaboration between Sonoma-Cutrer’s founding and current winemakers. The 13.9% abv wine will retail for around $70 a 750-ml. and will be available directly from the winery and in select retailers across the U.S. Last year, Sonoma-Cutrer was at 409,000 cases in the U.S., according to Impact Databank.
•Napa, California’s Crimson Wine Group has named Annette Alvarez-Peters to its board of directors. Alvarez-Peters succeeds the retiring Craig Williams and joins the board with decades of industry experience, including 25 years in Costco’s beverage alcohol department, serving in a variety of roles including assistant vice president and general merchandising manager.
