•Il Palagio, the Tuscan estate owned by Sting and Trudie Styler, has appointed Evaton Inc. as its exclusive U.S. importer. The Il Palagio portfolio includes the Roxanne, When We Dance, Casino delle Vie, Baci Sulla Bocca, New Day, and Sister Moon labels. Connecticut-based Evaton is the U.S. arm of leading Portuguese wine company Sogrape. In addition to the wines of Il Palagio, its portfolio includes brands such as Gazela, Finca Flichman, Sandeman, Mateus, and Casa Ferreirinha, among others.
•Michter’s 10-year-old Bourbon, Evan Williams Square 6, and newcomers from The Singleton and Tullibardine are among the offerings featured in Whisky Advocate’s latest weekly roundup. The magazine’s website has all the details.
•Diageo is launching Johnnie Blonde Blended Scotch Whisky, billed as a sweeter, smoother expression of the Johnnie Walker brand aimed at introducing new audiences to Scotch whisky. Debuting initially in the Houston market, Johnnie Blonde is at 40% abv and retails at $25 a 750-ml. To support the launch, the brand has partnered with Houston-based public art consulting firm UP Art Studio on a Big Walls Big Dreams mural-painting festival that will refresh public art in Houston neighborhoods.
•Beam Suntory has launched Old Overholt 114 nationally. The 57% abv rye whiskey is aged for four years and non-chill filtered. It joins the brand’s 43% abv release and more recent Old Overholt Bottled in Bond brand extension. Previously the high-proof variant was exclusive to Ohio and Pennsylvania but is now rolling out across the U.S. for around $33 a 750-ml. Old Overholt was at 56,000 cases in the U.S. last year, according to Impact Databank.
•Heaven Hill Brands has expanded Carolans Irish Cream, adding a new cold brew coffee-flavored expression to brand’s lineup. The 17% abv liqueur blends coffee, chocolate, and the brand’s original Irish Cream for a new creation aimed at fans of both coffee and sweet liqueurs. Carolans Cold Brew is rolling out now across the U.S. for around $16 a 750-ml.
•Diageo has teamed up with singer and actor Joe Jonas to promote Tanqueray Sevilla Orange, the latest flavored offshoot for the gin brand. The orange-flavored gin is bottled at 41.3% abv and is available across the U.S. In order to promote the summer-friendly spirit, the company has released a series of digital spots featuring Joe Jonas delivering a Sevilla Orange-themed weather report.
