Craft Brewing and Distilling News for June 22, 2021June 22, 2021
•A group of Sixpoint Brewing veterans has teamed up to create Return, a new Hudson, New York-based craft brewer. The new brewer is founded by Mikey Lenane, Jack Liakas, and JD Linderman, who total over 20 years of experience in the brewing industry and led innovation, design, and brewing at Sixpoint, respectively. Return is aiming for an ambitious start, dividing its releases into three categories: Tavern beers, the most accessible of Return’s brews; Garden beers, which will feature local fruits and botanicals, Eastern European-style raw ales, and beers made from foraged ingredients; and Archive beers, strong ales made using a variety of techniques including barrel aging.
•New York’s Barking Irons has launched a new apple-based gin. The 44% abv spirit is made from a blend of apple distillate and neutral spirits, along with a selection of citrus-focused botanicals including orange peel and juniper. The release will be supported with the company’s wider “New York to the Core” campaign, highlighting the distillery’s portfolio of applejack and gin, while celebrating New York’s post-Covid reopening. Barking Irons Gin is now available throughout New York state and on Reserve Bar and the distillery’s website for around $38 a 750-ml.Subscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
