•Southern Glazer’s has unveiled a new SG+ initiative aimed at providing enhanced service across its fine wine, artisanal wine, craft and luxury spirits business. The company says the enhanced customer service and delivery model supporting SG+ will be rolled out initially in Florida and Texas, with additional markets to follow in 2022. The push includes national points of contact, dedicated artisanal route-to-market strategies, on-premise incubation of brands, logistics, operations, and training and development. With SG+, Southern Glazer’s is introducing three new nationwide selling divisions: Signature Fine Wines & Spirits, Domaine & Estates Artisanal Wines, and Craft Collection Luxury Spirits. Mark Chaplin, the distribution giant’s vice president of sales and marketing, said the SG+ initiative “will differentiate us from the competition and reinforce our position as the distributor of choice in the fine wine, artisanal wine, craft and luxury spirits space.”

•Delicato Family Wines has completed its acquisition of Francis Ford Coppola Winery, originally announced in June, for an undisclosed sum. The deal includes the Francis Ford Coppola wine portfolio and two facilities anchored in Sonoma County, the Francis Ford Coppola Winery and the Virginia Dare Winery located in Geyserville, including the Archimedes Vineyard. The transaction was approved by the Federal Trade Commission in late June. Delicato president and CEO Chris Indelicato said the Coppola acquisition marks “a historic milestone” for the company.

•Beam Suntory and Aston Martin have teamed up for a new series of travel-retail-exclusive bottlings of Bowmore Islay Scotch whisky. The Designed by Aston Martin series is kicking off with limited edition packaging for Bowmore’s 10-, 15-, and 18-year old whiskies. The Bowmore 10-year-old is paired with Aston Martin’s LM10, the 15-year-old is inspired by the Aston Martin Atom, and the 18-year-old by the DB MKIII. The whiskies are rolling out now in global travel retail for around $59, $80, and $121, in order of age.

•Atlanta, Georgia’s Blue Ridge Spirits & Wine Marketing will now represent Panama’s Ron Abuelo rum in the U.S. The new partnership between the marketer and Ron Abuelo’s parent company Varela Hermanos, S.A., will give Blue Ridge all sales and marketing duties for the brand. Currently, Ron Abuelo’s Añejo, 7 Años, 12 Años, Two Oaks, a series of barrel finished rums (Oloroso, Napoleon, and Tawny), and Centuria are available in the U.S. with prices ranging from $15 at the entry level to $120. The rums are available in 20 markets across the U.S. and Blue Ridge and company are planning for expansion over the next year.
