•The Federal Trade Commission is reportedly investigating Uber’s pending $1.1 billion acquisition of Drizly, announced in February, and Uber’s partnership with fast-rising e-commerce company Gopuff to examine whether the relationships could negatively impact competition in the delivery sector for beverage alcohol and convenience items. The Information reported that the investigations of the Uber-Drizly deal and Uber’s arrangement with Gopuff are separate probes. In May, Uber announced that it was linking with Gopuff “to power a new everyday essentials experience on Uber Eats.”

•Heaven Hill has introduced the 2021 limited edition release of Parker’s Heritage Collection 11-Year-Old Heavy Char Wheat Whiskey. The 15th edition in the series, it will ship nationally beginning in September at an SRP of $140. The heavy char allowed Heaven Hill’s traditional Wheat Whiskey mashbill of 51% wheat, 37% corn, and 12% malted barley to interact more with the oak. Bottled at 122 proof and non-chill filtered, the whiskey showcases the broad range of Heaven Hill Distillery’s 1.9 million barrels of aging inventory, according to the company, which will contribute a portion of the proceeds from each bottle sold to the ALS Association.

•Heineken has announced Comb & Hive, a new mead, set to hit shelves in test markets for Labor Day. The 6.9% abv lightly sparkling wine is made from wildflower honey and sugar, with added orange blossom. The drink will be available individually and in 4-packs of 12-ounce cans, with each can containing 150 calories and two grams of sugar. Heineken will test the new brand in Denver, Colorado and Nashville, Tennessee, and will support the launch with digital and social activations alongside point-of-sale materials.
