•Yamazaki 55 year old, Laphroaig Càirdeas Pedro Ximénez Edition, and newcomers from Glenallachie and Laws Whiskey are among the offerings featured in Whisky Advocate’s latest weekly roundup. The magazine’s website has all the details.
•Republic National Distributing Co. (RNDC) is aligning its national fine wine business under the moniker The Estates Group. Gable Abdo has been named senior vice president of The Estates Group for the Central Region, while Marin Blomquist will fill the same role in the West. Abdo recently led RNDC’s fine wine business in Texas, while Blomquist most recently held the same position in California. A senior vice president leading the East region will be announced at a later date. RNDC operates across 38 U.S. markets and has projected 2021 revenues of $12.5 billion.
•Brown-Forman has launched the fourth release of King of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. This iteration is 14 years old, comes in at 65% abv, and is made from a selection of 33 barrels by Woodford Reserve master distiller Chris Morris. Roughly 2,700 750-ml. bottles will be available for a suggested price of $250 in Kentucky, Illinois, and Ohio, with the majority of bottles focused on the Kentucky market.
•Diageo has launched Cîroc Pomegranate, the newest seasonal flavor from the Sean “Diddy” Combs-backed vodka brand. The 35% abv flavored vodka follows Summer Citrus, the brand’s last limited release, and joins the main portfolio of Cîroc’s unflavored vodka plus flavors like mango, apple, and pineapple, among others. Last year, Cîroc was at 1.35 million cases in the U.S., according to Impact Databank.
•Musician and entrepreneur Sammy Hagar has entered the RTD cocktail category with Sammy’s Beach Bar Cocktail Co. The new line of rum-based cocktails comes in at 5.5% abv and 130 calories per 12-ounce serving. Initially, Sammy’s Beach Bar Cocktail Co. will launch with four flavors—Tangerine Dream, Pineapple Splash, Island Pop, and Cherry Kola Chill—in California, Texas, and Nevada, with further expansion coming soon. Each cocktail comes in 4-packs of 12-ounce cans. To celebrate the launch, Hagar will perform on the second-floor roof of Paris Las Vegas at Beer Park on September 22.
•Grain & Barrel Spirits has announced a long-term licensing agreement with Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE) to launch a duo of Elvis Presley-themed whiskies. They include Elvis Whiskey, a straight Tennessee whiskey, and Elvis Rye, a straight Indiana rye. Both are bottled at 45% abv and retail at $50 a 750-ml.
