Craft Brewing and Distilling News for November 19, 2021

November 19, 2021

•Sagamore Spirit has announced the release of its first Bottled in Bond offering, a 100% Maryland-distilled rye whiskey made entirely at the brand’s Baltimore distillery and barrel-aged for four years at its nearby rickhouse. Sagamore Spirit Bottled in Bond blends two straight rye whiskies, one with a high-rye mash bill, the other low-rye. The 50% abv bottling retails at $60 and is available in select markets. As more Maryland-distilled rye fully matures, it will compromise a higher share of whiskey within Sagamore Spirit’s releases—which also include whiskies from MGP—before reaching 100% by 2025.

•Stone Brewing’s distribution arm, Stone Distributing Co., has added two drink makers to its Southern California portfolio. The two producers are San Diego-based Ashland Hard Seltzer and El Segundo Brewing Company, located in its eponymous city. Ashland markets a variety of zero-sugar, zero-carb seltzers in flavors including mango strawberry, watermelon, and limited editions mango chili and ginger pear, among others. El Segundo’s lineup includes Mayberry IPA, Broken Skull IPA, and Smoky Hollow Coffee Stout. The additions mark the eighth and ninth distribution partners Stone has added this year. Stone is the No.-9 craft brewer in the U.S., according to the Brewers Association.
