Whisky Advocate Set To Announce 2021 Whisky of the YearDecember 9, 2021
After a three-day countdown, Whisky Advocate will announce the 2021 Whisky of the Year this morning at 10 o’clock. The reveal, at whiskyadvocate.com/top20, culminates the year-long process of rating and reviewing new whiskies from around the world, and then selecting the best of the best.
On Monday, the magazine counted down the tenth, ninth, and eighth best whiskies, including two Bourbons and a blended malt from Scotland. The roll call continued on Tuesday with Nos.-7, -6, and -5—single malts from India and Sweden, and a Tennessee Bourbon—followed by the fourth, third, and second-place winners on Wednesday. Those included a Tennessee whiskey, a peated Irish single malt, and a Kentucky Straight Bourbon.
Whisky Advocate will unveil the full Top 20 list tomorrow on the magazine’s website. This year’s Top 20 follows the return of Whisky Advocate’s WhiskyFest events after the pandemic forced their cancellation in 2020. Those events kicked off in late October with Florida’s BigSmoke WhiskyFest and ran through early December, with WhiskyFests in Chicago, New York, and San Francisco. Dates for the magazine’s 2022 events will be announced next year at WhiskyFest.com.Subscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
