Lucas Bols Acquires Partida Tequila

Lucas Bols has agreed to acquire the upscale Partida Tequila brand from Gary Shansby and Edrington for an undisclosed sum. Expected to close in the first quarter of 2022, the deal will see Lucas Bols gain Partida’s La Familia and Roble Fino product ranges and add the brand to its global portfolio. “We see ample opportunities to grow this brand, not only in its home markets the United States and Mexico, but also in select other markets around the world,” said Lucas Bols CEO Huub van Doorne.

Produced in the town of Tequila under the leadership of general manager and maestro tequilero Jose Valdez, Partida went up for sale earlier this year. Founded by Shansby in 2005, Partida partnered with Edrington in 2016, joining that company’s portfolio, but has failed to keep pace amid a boom in the upscale Tequila category in recent years. —Daniel Marsteller
