Bota Box Extends Into Wine-Based Cocktails With Bota’Rita Range

January 13, 2022

Delicato Family Wines’ Bota Box brand is entering the fast-growing wine-based cocktail category. The boxed wine label is targeting a March launch for wine-based Bota’Rita cocktails, debuting in Classic Lime and Strawberry expressions. Retailing at $16 a 1.5-liter carton, the Bota’Ritas are made with Bota Box wine blended with agave, lime juice, and natural flavors, and will debut nationally.

The launch of Bota’Rita comes amid a period of rapid growth for the wine-based cocktail category, which doubled in size to 5 million cases in 2020, according to Impact Databank, and continued to soar through 2021. “Wine-based margarita sales have nearly doubled in the last year, creating a new category that’s now worth close to $200 million,” said Delicato executive vice president of marketing Jon Guggino, citing IRI data.—Daniel Marsteller
