January 25, 2022•Chicago, Illinois-based Cresco Labs is partnering with rapper Wiz Khalifa on his cannabis brand Khalifa Kush. The exclusive partnership with Cresco Labs will make FloraCal Farms and Continuum the sole producer and distributor, respectively, of Khalifa Kush’s signature KK strain in California. Initial products will include flower and pre-rolls, with an expanded line to arrive later in the year. Khalifa Kush products will be sold exclusively at Cookies stores at launch, with expansion to additional retail partners throughout the year.
•Toronto-based cannabis company Cronos has appointed John Griese as senior vice president, operations, putting him in charge of operations for North America. He joins from Supreme Cannabis, where he was COO. Prior to that he was COO at Creso Pharma for two and half years and previously spent six years with Nestle after a 17-year tenure at PepsiCo Frito Lay.
•Tilray CEO Irwin Simon does not expect federal legalization of cannabis in the U.S. to happen in the next two years, according to a comment he made during the company’s latest earnings call. He expects Tilray to reach $4 billion in annual revenue by 2024, assuming the U.S. legalizes in some form. However, he’s not confident that will happen, saying, “I do not see legalization happening in the U.S. for at least the next two years.”
