•Breakthru Beverage affiliate Connecticut Distributors has named John Slocum as the company’s new president, effective today. Slocum comes to the role with 25 years of experience including serving as regional sales manager and president at Slocum & Sons of Rhode Island and as executive vice president and general manager at Slocum & Sons of Connecticut. In his new role, Slocum will replace John Parke, who has taken a job at E.&J. Gallo in California.

•Brown-Forman has announced the return of Woodford Reserve Double Double Oaked, along with an accompanying sweepstakes to give fans of the whiskey a chance to purchase a bottle of the limited release. The drawing opens on Woodford Reserve’s website on February 8 and winners will be notified by February 10 and will have until April 10 to pick up their bottles at the distillery. The whiskey, bottled at 45.2% abv, starts off as Woodford’s regular Double Oaked Bourbon before finishing for an additional year in a heavily toasted, lightly charred, new oak barrel. Beyond the sweepstakes, Woodford Reserve Double Double Oaked will go on sale at the distillery for $50 a 375-ml., beginning today.

•NBA superstar Chris Paul has invested in La Fête Wine Company as an equity partner. The wine brand, founded in 2019 by Donae Burston, makes its namesake rosé—from the South of France—and will be adding a white wine, previously a limited offering, as a permanent line addition in 2022. The company is planning to launch a third release this year, too. The Phoenix Suns point guard and captain’s investment comes a little less than a year after Constellation invested in La Fête Wine Company, through the beverage giant’s $100 million initiative to invest in brands owned by people of color.
