Rémy Cointreau Names Nicolas Beckers CEO Of The Americas

March 31, 2022

Rémy Cointreau has announced a number of new executive appointments, including a new chief in its Americas region. Rémy veteran Nicolas Beckers, who is currently the CEO of the company’s China region, will become chief executive of Rémy Cointreau Americas effective September 1.

Beckers will replace Ian McLernon, who is transitioning to become CEO of the EMEA region and will also be responsible for North and South Asia Pacific and Travel Retail. Additionally, Rémy has appointed Sophie Phe as CEO for China. Based in Shanghai since 2016, she has previously been responsible for Louis XIII and Rémy Martin in China.

The moves come amid a period of robust growth for Rémy Cointreau, which posted sales up 38% to €1.1 billion ($1.24b) for the nine months through December, representing the first three quarters of its fiscal year. The core Cognac division rose 38.5% to €797 million ($898m) as U.S. trends remained strong. The Liqueurs & Spirits division increased 39% to €263 million ($296m), boosted by the growth of Cointreau in the U.S. as well as momentum behind The Botanist, which advertised during the Super Bowl this year. Both Rémy Martin and Cointreau recently earned Impact “Hot Brand” honors for their 2021 performances.—Daniel Marsteller
