May 2, 2022

European sparkling wine giant Henkell Freixenet saw sales increase 11% to €1.3 billion ($1.4b) in 2021, led by its Freixenet and Mionetto brands. With the strong performance, the company surpassed its pre-Covid sales levels, boosted by the return of on-premise markets. “Despite major challenges, the past business year was extremely successful,” said Henkell Freixenet CEO Andreas Brokemper. “Led by our top brands distributed worldwide, we were able to grow significantly in practically all regions.”

U.S. subsidiary Freixenet Mionetto USA contributed to a 26% increase for Henkell Freixenet in its Americas region, to €169 million ($178m). According to Impact Databank, the Mionetto brand increased 6% to 890,000 cases in the U.S. last year, while Freixenet rose 4% to 582,000 cases, leading the Spanish sparkling category. Fellow Cava brand Segura Viudas jumped 12% to reach the quarter-million-case mark.—Daniel Marsteller
