•Spirit of Gallo’s High Noon Sun Sips has extended its Sun’s Up marketing campaign with new 30-, and 15-second spots, all created by Austin, Texas-based creative agency Preacher. The new spots focus on golfing, spending a day at a lake, and relaxing in a hot tub. The campaign extension comes amid continued growth for High Noon, with the company reporting triple-digit growth for Q1. The new ads follow the launch of High Noon in 700-ml. cans as well as an 8-can Pool Pack, featuring two new flavors: kiwi and guava. Last year High Noon nearly tripled in size, reaching 8.8 million cases in the U.S., according to Impact Databank.
•Sonoma, California-based Flybird Cocktails is launching Spicy Tamarind Mangonada. The new cocktail was inspired by the Mexican street drink of the same name. The ready-to-drink mix is made from an agave wine base mixed with flavors of mango, tamarind, and Chile de Arbol, at 15% abv. Flybird launched its first wares in late 2019 with its core Margarita cocktail range, which now includes additions like Passion Fruit, Watermelon Cucumber, and Prickly Pear, among others. The brand launched Flybird Cans last year as well. Spicy Tamarind Mangonada is available in major markets this month, priced at $13 a 750-ml. Flybird grew 71% to 183,000 9-liter cases last year, according to Impact Databank.
•Market Watch Leader Mark Fisch passed away over the weekend at the age of 74. With his brother Gary, Fisch co-founded New Jersey-based Gary’s Wine & Marketplace (then called Shoppers Discount Liquor) in 1987. With an innovative approach to retail that emphasized customer service, the duo saw the business reach $20 million in sales by 1999, the year before Mark retired. Since then, sales have more than doubled, and the template the brothers created has seen Gary’s expand to become a five-location business with four stores in New Jersey and a West Coast outpost in the Napa Valley. After stepping back from the retail business in 2000, Mark operated a deli in Lake Hopatcong, NJ.Subscribe to Shanken News Daily’s Email Newsletter, delivered to your inbox each morning.
