•Compass Box has announced the Circle, No. 2, a new blended Scotch made in collaboration with bartender Mannie Monaghan. The 46% abv whisky is blended from malts from Glen Elgin (over half of the blend), as well as Sherry cask aged whiskies, and a little peated malt, plus an amount of whiskies matured in wine barrels that were shaved, toasted, and re-charred before use. The whisky carries a suggested price $130 and will be available in the U.S. in July. Only 3,113 bottles will be released globally.

•Paso Robles, California’s Halter Ranch Vineyard and Winery has purchased the EOS Estate from Foley Family Wines for an undisclosed sum. The buy gives Halter Ranch a new facility with an 11,000 square foot hospitality center as well as an 8.5 acre estate. Halter Ranch plans to launch a new brand from the facility and expects to begin welcoming guests to the tasting room before the year is over. The structure was originally built by the Firestone Family in 2007 and operated as Firestone Wines. It was later purchased by Foley Family Wines and became the site of the EOS tasting room in 2010. Halter’s portfolio also includes the recently acquired Hart Winery in Temecula.
