•Opici Wines & Spirits is expanding its Italian portfolio with six organic Sicilian wines from Baglio di Pianetto, focused on native varietals. Founded in 1997 by Count Paolo Marzotto and now run by the second and third generations of the Marzotto family, Baglio di Pianetto’s two wine estates span 160 hectares (395 acres) of vines. Opici will import Baglio di Pianetto wines including Catarratto, Frappato, Insolia, Grillo, flagship wine Nero D’Avola, and a French-inspired blend called Ramione nationwide starting this month.

•Plantation Rum is introducing three new luxury bottlings under its Extrême Collection n˚5. They include Barbados 2007 (58% abv, $200 a 750-ml.), Barbados 2000 (47.8% abv, $300), and Barbados 1986 (55.1% abv, $1,500). Local artist Alex Mars created the three exclusive works decorating the bottles of the Extreme n˚5 Collection. The first bottles of Barbados 2007, 2000, and 1986 will be offered at auction online, as an ultra-exclusive lot through Rum Auctioneer’s July auction, held July 1-11. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to support Barbados Community College’s Fine Arts program.

•Origins Organic Imports has appointed Nick Shoults to the newly created role of senior vice president, sales. Shoults was most recently SVP of national sales at Frederick Wildman & Sons, following 11 years as national sales director, off- and on-premise strategic accounts at Banfi Vintners. In his new role, Shoults heads up distributor management while developing on- and off-premise sales teams around the U.S. He reports directly to Origins Organic CEO Labid al Ameri and co-owner Anne Bousquet. Bousquet and Ameri are also co-owners of Domaine Bousquet. With affiliated offices in Bordeaux, Argentina, and Brazil, the company accounts for annual sales of more than 750,000 cases globally
