Edrington’s Sales Near $1 Billion In Year Through March

July 6, 2022

Edrington has posted sales for the year through March, showing a strong set of results against both last year and pre-pandemic. The U.K.-based company’s revenues reached $975 million on a 45% increase compared with the previous year, and were up 22% versus pre-pandemic. Profit before tax registered $322 million, compared with $264 million pre-pandemic. Edrington’s brand investment totaled more than $200 million last fiscal year, up by more than one-third versus pre-pandemic.

In the U.S., Edrington Americas benefited from a strong rebound from The Macallan single malt Scotch whisky, which jumped 27% to 267,000 cases year-on-year, according to Impact Databank. The company noted that “accelerated development of direct-to-consumer sales was a significant driver of growth” for The Macallan, which continues to steadily launch new expressions, including its oldest whisky to date, The Macallan Reach. Edrington also formed a strategic partnership with Berry Bros. & Rudd over the past year, taking a significant minority stake in No.3 London Dry Gin.

“Edrington has returned to the consistent growth trend we saw in the years before the pandemic, with robust performances across our core markets, particularly the USA, China, and the Dominican Republic,” said chief executive Scott McCroskie. In addition to its results, Edrington announced today that it has committed to achieve net zero emissions by 2045. McCroskie called the new target “a significant increase on our previous commitment and it will touch every aspect of our business.”—Daniel Marsteller
